In Loving Memory
Tyrone Roberts Jr.

Obituary

Tyrone Roberts Jr. (affectionately known as TY) was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 13, 1984 to Tyrone Sr. (deceased) and Jacqueline (Jackie) Roberts. TY was the second oldest of their three children. Separated by three years each, the three siblings were close growing up and the bond that they shared was ironclad.

TY graduated from Jane Addams Business Career Center in Cleveland, Ohio, June 2003. It was here that he nurtured his interest in cooking and completed the Culinary Arts Program. Nevertheless, from a very young age, it was TY’s dream to be a firefighter. In March 2006, he graduated from the 116th recruit school and accomplished his goal to become a firefighter in the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department in Virginia. He would later relocate to Jacksonville, Florida to care for family responsibilities. TY was a very hard worker. He was industrious, resourceful, and was a highly motivated individual who balanced multiple professional obligations simultaneously.

TY chose to dedicate his life to Jehovah God and on July 17, 1999, he proudly symbolized that dedication with baptism as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Attending congregation meetings was a part of his worship, along with sharing his faith with others in the field ministry. When TY participated in the field ministry, he held his head up high and was undeterred when he met with opposition. He also was delighted to worship at the regional conventions with his family, especially because, while he was in Cleveland, he had the privilege to work in the parking department with his father and his brother!

Music, movies, sports, fashion and food, were some of TY’s favorite things. Speaking of food…he cherished childhood favorites like Hamburger Helper and his mom’s buttery grits and Spanish rice. When they were together, the siblings enjoyed filling requests for some of each other’s favorite dishes such as Brandy’s cheesy eggs and lasagna, Spencer’s hoagies and chicken and waffles, and TY’s classic stuffed shells. TY also loved very much just spending time with his family. They had a good time reminiscing about childhood events, reciting lines from movies and laughing about other fun times! Additionally, TY enjoyed close association with his male cousins who were like his brothers. His fellow firefighters also had a special place in his life and some were his spiritual brothers.

People absolutely loved TY, including children, and rightly so. He embraced a few children he was especially fond of and he treated them like his very own. TY would light up a room with his charisma and charm. He was funny, outgoing and gracious. TY was also warm, compassionate, sensitive, and nurturing to others, which made people gravitate to him. He had a way of sensing the needs of others and endeavored to make sure they were comfortable and treated hospitably. On Friday, August 22, 2025, Tyrone Jr. fell asleep in death. He was loved and adored by so many and will be truly missed.

TY leaves to remember and cherish his memory: mother, Jacqueline Roberts, sister, Brandy (Rasheed) Warith, and brother, Spencer (Capriss) Roberts. A host of uncles, aunts, cousins and family and friends will also hold dear his memory.
